  • A different kind of event!
    Guy will be departing Ottawa on 19 April 2012 for another extended walk in Europe. Carrying his backpack, he will re-start his walk in Saint Chely d'Aubrac, France (which is where he stopped in April 2011), then walk almost 700 kilometers west and south to end in Pamplona, Spain, walking over the Pyrenees enroute. This is another of the ancient feeder routes of the Camino de Santiago in Spain and has been travelled by pilgrims for well over 1,000 years. He expects to be in Pamplona by the end of May.     At the IFMA Foundation Gala, Guy Thatcher, IFMA Fellow, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder! Actually, it’s his inspirational presentation, A Journey of Days: Relearning Life’s Lessons on the Camino de Santiago, to be delivered anywhere in the world, that will be auctioned off. The proceeds will go to the IFMA Foundation to promote and support scholarships, educational and research opportunities for the advancement of facility management worldwide. Books will also be available, signed by the author at this event to be held at the World of Coca Cola in Atlanta, Ga.

His topics will be his walk across northern Spain on the historic pilgrimage route of the Camino de Santiago, as well as about the author's perspective in getting his book published.
